Free Websites that Help Design E-Newsletters

By

Almost every Internet marketer claims that you must use e-newsletters to market your small business. Despite that claim, there are very few sites that provide free designs, templates, or help designing your newsletter. And free is what the Web is all about, right?

The following list consists of some great sites that do contain free information, including a handful that include free templates. Many free template sites are marketing vehicles for email promotion services or software.

So, keep that in mind as you surf this list and don't immediately sign off from what appears to be a commercial site. Look around and you'll find their free offerings.

Templates

Sparklist - Free resources. Templates are a bit boring, but they are free and a good starting point for your personal or business e-newsletter.

MailChimp - A commercial site that provides a huge amount of information and a few pretty cool templates for free.

Interspire - Another commercial site that provides a handful of engaging free templates.

Kekeko - Over a dozen contemporary design templates for free.

E-Newsletter Design and E-Mail Marketing Sites

The following sites are excellent resources, providing detailed discussions of email marketing, mail delivery tools, design, and more.

RichMinx - A consistently high-quality blog, RichMinx provides an outstanding short series on writing e-mail newsletter content. The site also links to several of the free sites mentioned above. One of the best all-around resources for Internet Marketing.

DaveChaffey.com - Chaffey provides a lot of good information and resources on various areas of web design, including e-newsletters.

Alder Consulting - This site contains an outstanding article on e-newsletters and marketing. Don't let the fact that it's aimed at nonprofits stop you from reading the piece. It's packed with great tips and resources.

AnandGraves - This article is a very comprehensive view of e-mail marketing. Worth a look.

Idealware - A commercial site, this article on e-mail marketing tools is very good.

SitePoint - A great and long article about e-newsletter HTML coding by Tim Slavin. I don't like all of the pop-ups on this site, but the article is worth the annoyance.
